    Do you believe in Christmas miracles?

    Peter Danielson was running behind last Thursday morning. He was still disassembling cardboard boxes to add to his blue cart when he noticed the collection truck approaching. In a frantic rush, Peter grabbed a big load of cardboard, dumped it into the cart and rolled it to its pick-up spot, just in the nick of time. The truck drove off, and Peter carried on with his morning.

    Until he noticed something. His iPhone was missing.

  • Christmas Tree Collection

    For the past 30 years, the City of Lethbridge has partnered with local youth groups to ensure that Christmas trees continue to give after the holiday season. Over 1.5 million kilograms, or approximately 95,000 Christmas trees, have been diverted from the landfill since the program began.

    This year's collection will take place ​​Saturday, January 11, 2025.

    Service level impacts during the 2024/2025 holiday season

    The holiday season is almost upon us.

    Wednesday, December 25 is Christmas Day. Thursday, December 26 is Boxing Day. Wednesday, January 1 is New Year’s Day.

    The trio of statutory holidays means the City will have service level changes.

    Community to celebrate second annual Blackfoot Winter Solstice

    Lethbridge residents are invited to connect with Blackfoot culture and traditions on Saturday, December 21.

    The Cavendish Farms Centre will once again host the Blackfoot Winter Solstice. The celebration recognizes and pays respect to the Blackfoot community in the form of a dedicated Indigenous art display and ceremony with local Indigenous leaders.

    If you own a business or a dog in Lethbridge, take note! The mail out of renewal notices for approximately 12,000 business and dog licences in the city is being impacted by the recent Canada Post strike.

  • Unplanned power outage affecting most of south Lethbridge

    UPDATE 2:05 p.m. - Power fully restored.

    An unplanned power outage is currently affecting a large portion of south Lethbridge. 

    Crews are working to diagnose the cause of the outage and restore power to affected residents as soon as possible.
