In early spring, the City of Lethbridge will be introducing curbside organics for houses that currently have black and blue cart collection. To help roll out the new program, we are looking for Lethbridge students to help name our waste, recycling and organic collection truck fleet.

There is no universal definition for a tiny home. The Land Use Bylaw does not draw a distinction between home sizes and there is no special rules for tiny homes. A tiny home on a permanent foundation is considered a single detached dwelling. A tiny home on a chassis and placed on a temporary foundation with connections to utlity services is considered a manufactured home.
Telecommunications is vital to the national economy and security and is thus the jurisdiction of the Federal Government. Cell tower locations are approved by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISEDC for short, formerly Industry Canada). Cell tower locations are not approved by the local municipality. In June 2016 the Supreme Court of Canada re-affirmed that municipal governments have no jurisdiction in the approval of cell tower locations.
On Wednesday, during a ceremony at the University of Lethbridge, five members of Lethbridge City Council, including Mayor Blaine Hyggen, added the City of Lethbridge as a signatory supporting the Buffalo Treaty – thus making Lethbridge the first municipality to do so.
