A busy stretch of road will close in north Lethbridge next week, as electrical crews perform underground work.

On Sunday, July 12, the southbound lanes of University Drive West, between Walsh Drive and Bridge Drive, will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lanes. 

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services is advising residents that a new temporary emergency access road connecting Great Bear Boulevard West to Metis Trail West is now complete and open for emergency response use only. 

Phone service has been restored at the Lethbridge Public Safety Communications Centre. 

Quick action by residents and responding crews helped prevent a barbecue fire from causing more extensive damage to a north Lethbridge mobile home. 

Ongoing work under Whoop-Up Drive will see a westbound lane closure this weekend.

As we head deeper into the hot months of July and August, the City of Lethbridge is sharing a reminder of resources available to help residents stay cool and safe.

Construction on the Whoop-Up Drive/Scenic Drive Interchange Improvement is moving into its next phase on July 8. Work shifts to the 400 block of Scenic Drive South.

Effective immediately and until further notice, a fire ban is in place for all open fires in the City of Lethbridge River Valley.
