Inspections
Inspections ensure that all work being completed is done in compliance with applicable codes to maintain a level of safety for the current and future occupants of a building.
Scheduling an Inspection
All requests for inspections of any type must be made through either:
Requests by email, requests by non-applicants or requests made directly to Safety Codes Officers are no longer accepted. For more information, please see Inspection Requests through the eInspection Online Portal.
When contacting Building Inspections with your request, please provide:
- Address of the property where work is to be inspected
- Permit number
- Contact information of the applicant
- Type of inspection required (e.g., rough-in, final)
- Additional information that may be necessary to help Building Inspections gain access to the premises
Inspections are completed Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Requests received before 1 p.m. will be scheduled for the following business day. Requests received after 1 p.m. will be scheduled within two business days.
While Building Inspections works diligently to accommodate all members of the building community, exact appointment times cannot be scheduled due to the nature of inspections.
General Policies
A homeowner, contractor, or appointed party must be on site at the arranged time of the inspection to grant access for the inspector. If no one is there to facilitate entry onto the premises, the inspector will leave a notice to reschedule on the door or in a visible area.
Individuals under 18 years of age cannot grant access without adult supervision.
